I may be known as a real estate developer, but deep down, I’ve always been a designer.
A large part of what I do today involves paperwork, numbers, approvals, permissions, meetings with government officials, timelines, budgets, and everything else that comes with developing a property. It’s an important part of the job, but if I’m being honest, that’s not the part that excites me the most. What I truly enjoy is “building”.
My journey actually started with interior design. I used to design homes for clients, and that experience taught me a lot about spaces, materials, proportions, colours, textures, and, most importantly, how a home can influence the way someone feels. But there was always one limitation. When you’re designing someone else’s home, there is only so much of your vision that you can bring to life. That’s what pushed me towards real estate development. For me, developing a property isn’t simply about putting up a building and selling it. It’s about the architecture, the proportions, the natural light, the materials, the landscape, the interiors, the furniture, the smallest details put together. With Benicio, I’m not trying to create something that appeals to absolutely everyone. I’m creating a home that has a character, emotion and aesthetic. Something that someone walks into and immediately connects with because they understand and appreciate the vision behind it. That is where I find the real satisfaction in my work.
